North York is not a town you arrive in. It is the northern band of Toronto, running along Yonge Street from the 401 up to the city line at Steeles, and it is wide as well as tall. A condominium at the North York Centre, a house in a residential neighbourhood to the east, and Yorkdale mall to the southwest are all North York and are nowhere near each other. That is why the street address, not the district, is what dispatch plans from.
The route also matters. Getting here from Buffalo means running the QEW along the lake and then the 401 across the top of the city rather than through the downtown, and the 401 across Toronto is one of the busiest stretches of highway in North America.
